Hey guys,

Looking for a new set of pickups for my Schecter S-1 Elite. Don't really have much experience of pickups - the stock Duncan Designed in my guitar and some EMG's are all i've had the chance to test, but I'll see what info I can give you.

I play a punk/metal mix. Basically punk influenced by early Maiden/Metallica, so lots of chugging and galloping riffs. I suppose somewhat like Dave Baksh from Sum 41, but without the irritating vocalist or the poppiness!

Looking for good tight bass response, but with good, smooth mids and top end so I cut through in the mix. I quite liked the EMGs but found them too compressed, saturated and, well, they just didn't sound real. I suppose I'm looking for a more organic EMG sound. I 'm a stickler for clarity and a tight sound, which is probs why I liked the EMGs. However I found the '81 too middy, and it needed more bass for me, and again I wanted a slightly edgier, rawer, more natural sound. I couldn't fault the '85 though, gorgeous lead/neck tone. The thing is, cleans are very important to me, and the EMGs couldn't really do much of anything clean.

Someone suggested Miracle Man set... Were they right?

Thanks guys...

The ones who recommended the Miracle Man where totally right!

Being a proud owner of a pair myself, they will definitely do the job.
