Should i? (amps)
« on: January 14, 2007, 08:44:39 AM »
i got an offer from a guy, that was also interested in this amp (Laney LH50R) when it was for sale.
now he's offering to buy it off of me.. of course i dont want to sell it. BUT the same dude is selling his GH50L, for the same price as mine.. and it's tempting.

i dont realy need the clean channel. it's fun to play once in a while, but i guess i could do that with the GH50L too and get good enough results.

i told the guy (that wants to bu the amp) that i might be interested. if he wants this amp for the two chanels it has, or something else, he could buy the GH50L from the dude and we could make a straight up trade, since i dont use the clean chanel and the fact that i could put EL34's in the GH50L is realy tempting me. plus as far as i know, that amp is a touch tighter on its own, has more gain on tap .. and well, it's a GH50L :D

what do you guys think? i am realy happy with the LH50R, but ever since London, i realy want the GH50L

i think that if you want it, have it! It's a great amp after, and if yu want cleans yu can always just turn down the gain and volume for something reasonable 8)

is there any way you can meet and both get to try each others' amps? that'd be what I'd do. Just in case you don't like the gh or something (unlikely, since you have already tried it).

no.. not possible to test them out side by side.

i loved it when i tried it the first time... more actualy than the LH (but granted.. i ran a full stack with the GH)

i'm just waiting now to see if the dude will want to buy that amp and trade me

If you need proper clean, then the GH50L won't be for you.  You can clean it up but it's never Fender clean.  They're great amps though  ;)

i guess is there any way to try out a GH in a shop near you? I'm guessing not... it's just that your ears could have changed since the last time you tried it...

no.. shops dont stock em, they stock only the fad of the year amp (this time it's the 6505) the usual line6 garbage, behringer and alike. they got a couple of blues jr's and peavey classics but that's not my kind of amp.

i dont need clean... if i want to fake clean, i guess it could do well enough for my needs.

it's cool practicing on clean and fooling around once in a while, but not enough to warrant a 2nd channel.. and like said, i want an el34 amp.

Go for it, i thought i would need a clean channel and was regretting it at one point, but now i am all out metal and don't care and it sounds awesome.

Get it!
