Marshall original (non-reissue) checkered front cabs...
« on: January 17, 2007, 04:37:31 PM »
How much would a 2x12, early 70s Marshall cab be worth, roughly?

I've been offered one for £250... That's more than a new 1936 (and it doesn't even have carry handles on the sides!), but then it's a much better sounding cab.
Bare Knuckles owned: Mules, VHII, Rebel Yells, BKP-91, Strat 63 set, Riff Raffs.

Is it?

Why would that be?

Is there a reason that plywood from 1970s is any better than plywood from the 1980s,1990s

Has it settled down more and making the sound warmer or better?

I would maybe understand if the speakers were different designs

Sometimes older is just older and not better - although the retro gear craze often over looks that

if it's got a decent set of G12H30's or Greenbacks from the 70's then yea it'll be a fantastic buy, but if it's just G12T75's it's just wasting your money imo.

Agreed - it all depends on the speakers!
