Just got meself two of these kits

Now I'm soon going to start being a bias master.

Anyone else got experience adjusting Bias on yer amps? Would like to hear about your experiences...

Practice on a ceap amp first or even better somebody elses ;)

Its dedicated to Hotrod amp, but since reading it I feal totally confident in biasing an amp.

It gets a little heavey reading. not in a technical sense.... but he rambles.

not much voodoo in biasing your own amp.

good on you for getting some gear to check it out - saving yourself some money too!

find out your plate voltage, goto the weber VST bias calcuator web page..

it will give u a range from a hot to cold bias in milliamps, find which you like the sound of most.. and bingo it's done.

just remember to keep your amp still when biasing it and that everythings turned down to 0 on the front panel and that you leave it stationary for a good 15 mins to get an accurate reading.

I updated my Princeton II with the Torres variable bias kit. It does let you 'tune' the amp a bit, though I tend to go by the sound rather than the reading!

Anyone know how to discharge the capacitors of the amp to avoid hazards after the amp has been unplugged?

discharging is something i've never bothered with i mean the bias pot is free of everything else, and if u use a bias probe theres no need to go touching those PCB traces or cap ends that carry 500v's o death!

but if u wanna discharge them... then all the power to you, atleast u wont end up dead.

I once took a shock from an old amp years ago never learnt my lesson, flew about 12 ft backward n thought i was dead for a good minute until i realised i wasnt.. i just dont learn do i?

my method of biasing requires that the amp is on anyway so it doesnt much help that you discharge.. because you've gotta turn the bloody thing on to bias it anyway.. if your scared of death, get a tech to do it.. seriously.
