Gibson LG-1 acoustic from 1965 clips included
« on: January 26, 2007, 12:48:18 PM »
A good friend has just bought a Gibson LG1 acoustic guitar. This model was a student model back then and the bracing wasn't too strong leading to a dark, mellow tone without much harmonic richness although not without its charm.

We've recorded a clip with a Chinese condender mike and another clip with a pickup from LG Bragg.

The strings were Newtones Heritage series PB 12-51 ( extra low tension ).

That recording sounds great on my speakers, very direct (the condenser that is, I'll try the other in a mo) very nice pics too.

EDIT: The Baggs pickup version clips a bit and is less sparkly but has a touch more body so I think the two mixed together would be a nie sound.
