Tele question
« on: February 20, 2007, 04:10:47 PM »
Im looking at getting a set of BKP's for my tele (mex), maple neck, alder body.

I can only find sound clips of brown sugars and that was with considerable overdrive but i play almost always clean.

of the sounclips i have found i really like the Apache clean sounds ive heard.

Which of the BKP range for the tele is going to get me anywhere near the Apache sort of clean sound??

Hope some of you can help.

I would say "Country Boy"-not because I have them but because they pretty much do what you want-I would equate them to Teles as Apaches are to Strats. In other words, classic early Tele tone but don't think that they are weedy.A friend of mine, an excellent blues player, used my Tele last week and he played some blistering stuff. I did post a clip a while back-somewhere in the Players section.I shall see if i can find a link for you.Welcome to the forum by the way.

The Piledrivers are closest to the early 50's Tele sound, the same era as apaches, they have a bit more twang and chunk in a good way. The neck pup is really clear and the bridge is twangy, full and jangly. Really nice sounds

Interesting Joe-I thought the Piledrivers were really hot though I seem to recall them being based upon the original Broadcaster pickups ( I may be wrong on this-I have a chest infectio at the mo and so the old brain is a little addled). Having said that I haven't tried them and you have so I shall shut up.
