Painkiller? Nailbomb? What's for me?

Smashing, thanks very much. One more newbie question (first time I've bought new pickups) - do I need standard 50mm spacing for my Schecter S-1 Elite?

Not necessarily.

You should measure the distance between 1st & 6th strings over the bridge pickup pole pieces of your guitar.  Some tunomatic bridges have wider spacing than 50mm.  I've bought 53mm spacing for a number of my fixed bridge guitars.
BKPs: HD, MM, NB, PK, CS, Ab (b&n); Am (b only); VHII, Tril (n only); IT, Slow, Sult (m&n)

Hey guys,

Sorry to labour the point and the post, but I just wanted some confirmation.

I finally got my ENGL Screamer delivered today, and it's GORGEOUS. Anyways, now I've got my amp, I can better assess my needs. The amp is gorgeous, but obviously being EL34 based, it's got a lot of punch in the mids and sounds quite bright.

The stock bridge pickup in my Schecter is based on the SD JB. I looked on their site, and their estimated EQ is bass-5, mid-6, treble-8. Obviously, the Schecter is a bassy guitar, so I don't want to overcompensate too much...

I guess I'm looking for something that you could estimate the EQ at around 7ish on the bass, 6ish on the mids, and around 5-6 on the treble... Obviously I'm not looking for an uber-bassy sound, but I feel somewhere in the middle is needed to balance out the brightness of the amp and the fizziness and treble-oriented nature of the pickup.

Is the Nailbomb still recommended? Or does it have too much upper-mid for my new findings?

For those new to the post, or who can't be arsed to trawl back through, here's my needs summarised:

- Loud and hot rather than high-gain. A real punch in the gut.
- Not compressed sounding.
- Not too trebley or high-middy, but not too bassy. Aggressive low mids and a solid bass, I guess.

Thanks guys, sorry again to labour the point...
