I was seriously tempted by the Holy Diver but eventually went Cold Sweats due to the mahogany body in mine. In your guitar I'd have no hesitation in going with the HD.

Just to avoid any confusion - there are two "Holy Divers" - the old spec and the new spec. New spec is about 16.2k Alnico5, but old spec I think is something like 13k Ceramic, which I'm pretty sure is what CrazyJoe has (isn't it?).

Just so we know we're talking about the same pickup :)

^ AFAIK, it might not even be the Holy Diver that had its spec changed, I can't quite remember... can anyone confirm?

Yes, you're right on the change to alnico from ceramic although I can't confirm the DC rating.

IIRC the ceramic Holy Diver was about 13K indeed, similar to the Super Distortion.

Thanks for all the help guys. So I'm pretty set on the Holy Diver, but I think I'll get two different pickups, just to cover more range than a calibrated set.
I want a real punchy, tight, articulate sound from the other pickup, and lots of output. Thanks in advance. :D

I see your point about mixing up the pups but I wouldn't dismiss a calibrated set too quickly as they will still sound different. I had always assumed that the neck pup was just the same as the bridge but a little down on power due to its position but having now received my set of CS pups I've discovered that while the bridge is ceramic, the neck version is A5. This alone should offer different tonal qualities I would think.

Taking them to be fitted tomorrow: can't wait  :D

Cool man, congrats. I guess the ceramic and Alnico5 magnet should cause a pretty noticable difference. But I'm looking for very different tones, like one pickup that's really warm, and fat(HD), and another that is tight and punchy. I was thinking Painkiller, NB, or MM.

You could spend the rest of your life pondering this as all of the BKP products are so good. I'd suggest that you simply do what I eventually did; e-mail Tim with the details of your guitar and set up, along with a detailed description of what you're after and then simply buy whatever he suggests - don't question it; just buy it. Once I decided to do that, life became far simpler

Wise words. I di this too. I have an idea what sound I want and in what guitar, I tell Tim, he hooks me up. Works every time  8)
