a whole set, what do u recommend
« on: April 26, 2007, 02:34:08 AM »
ahem.. judging the comments in this forum I guess bare knuckle is one of the best pickups that exists. However, today I went to newcastle in the guitarguitar shop and they did sell BKPs but couldnt recommend anything to me instead he had to log on to the website but the guy looked confused and all that..I want to try it first so I was wondering if there are shops with guitars fitted with BKPs near newcastle. I really want to try it before I buy it.

Also I want some recommendation for a whole H-S-H set, I am thinking of the warpig s a bridge, heard it is powerful but I am not sure if its good on clean since I want a lot of variety. my kind of tone would be something like metallica tone on the rhythm (a lot of bass and clarity) and something like paul gilbert for a lead tone (high mid as well as trebel)..in other words, a lot of everything (I am so dumb and lame).. I use a hamer slammer centaura made in Korea.

please reply and save my life.

oh.. ad I also dont want any fuzzy sounds.. the warpigs demos so far has a fuzzy kinda sound in the bass.. but am guessing its the recording. I like a blocked bass sound (similar to a bass laser sound in movies) when played mute.. so would warpig be a good idea? or the nailbomb which so far has got what I need to some extent.. why don't time record some stuff in the warpig so to say we all get a good demo of both clean and distorted..

Hi,

For early or late metallica?  I have a nailbomb and think it would handle earlier metallica, like ride the lightning/master of puppets, and some shred leads as well.  I really like the nailbomb.   Hell it could probably do any metallica.

MM maybe too, I haven't played it.

I have only used the bridge version so thats all I can recommend.  Lots of bass/upper mids and treble.

nailbomb or holy diver
maybe an alnico version of miracle man
gilbert tone is too smooth and midfat to a regular miracle man and most ceramic pickups
Riff Raff, Mules, Black Dog, VHII's, Cold Sweat

I didn't know Guitar Guitar sold Bare Knuckle pickups.   :) I'll have to have a look down on Saturday & see if they have a Mirical Man in.

I have a Nailbomb/Slowhand/Cold Sweat HSH set that is really versatile.  I also have the Holy Diver with 2 Tirlogy Suites in a HSS guitar.  I think overall that the Nailbomb will give you what you want more than the Warpig, other than perhaps the bass laser sound, where the Warpig might have the edge!
So many pickups, so little time

so to cut things short, you guys suggest the nailbomb.. thats what I thought as well, however this is where the "cost thing" comes up..a nailbomb has an output of arooun 17-18 I think and Dimarzios have pickups with that output. how would you rate the nailbomb with  similar pickups from seymour and dimarzio (this question might be circulating arounf but I just want ur opinion NOW afte playing all those pickups).

Warpig is the most powerful by far with a staggering 23 in output. which is impressive but the sound (judging from the clips) becomes very fuzzy in bass. Do u think that can be adjusted with an equilizer, if so then how about a nailbomb on the neck and warpig on the bridge, suggest a single coil as well if u will..
thanks for the help so far guys.

currently I have my tones set up with a line6 uber metal, a compressor, korg processor, boss graphic eq..a sample of the tone is here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pb70SLF1o60

but while this is not very close to the tone I want it is very difficult to play clearly to get this tone as it involves finger and right hand striking pressure as well..
