OK, I've listened now -- and actually my first thought was (for some reason) that _tom_'s clips have a lot better recording quality now than they did we he was first posting clips.  Obviously, that's not new with these clips :) but I did think of it.  Hurrah!

Anyway, yeah, the box.  Sounds excellent, IMO! Though you're right that the difference between it and the Laney boost channel might be difficult for any but the cognoscenti to distinguish. The pedal is a little more "open", the amp a little more polished and tighter ... but it's pretty darned close!  Worth seeing how the pedal sounds with another amp, for sure, though!

I think its because I've got slightly better at mic'ing now, I know where it sounds good so I marked it on the grille so its easier for me in the future :D

I imagine this Crunch Box would be better suited to a warm Fender style clean amp, I would've liked try it with my HRDx but I sold that on Sunday so didnt get a chance to.

I'll be using mine with a '76 Superbass head so I'll let you know how it sounds with a clean amp.

Like HTH I'll be trying mine with the Klipps and my Valve Junior - both pretty clean amps...

I thought it may be a bit tighter with higher gain on a completely clean amp perhaps? Just did another clip with not quite so much gain (was on about 9 o clock to start with, then moved it up to about 11 o clock for the Van Halen bit.

edit - I've just tweaked the internal presence control a bit - seemed to tighten things up a bit - just been jamming to some GnR backing tracks in my room and it sounded huge. Will have to record it with a backing soon!

That second clip sounds brilliant, that crunch box seems to just make it a bit more silky for me, if I didn't have me Maxon I'd be getting one!

The silk depends on your original amp, picks, and technique. I get mine to sound quite aggressive. With the gain all the way down it's also awesome for very light gain marshall inspired tones.

GREAT pedal. I'll probably build me a second one soon. I honestly could have 3 on the board each with different settings.

Yeah, it sounds great with lower drive settings.. I still cant decide whether to keep it or not :x It does sound good, but so similar to my Laney, just a bit looser.

haha yeah :P

I think I'll sell mine, Adam.M is interested, and I think I need some kind of lead boost for the band, they were complaining the other day that they couldnt hear me very well :(

Any ideas if a delay in the fx loop will work as one? I'd just use an EQ but delay is nice for some stuff, plus we do some U2 in the band so it might come in handy.
