hello people..i've bought one year ago an Epiphone Flying V , (Alder body ,Mahogany Neck)and i've changed the stock PU's with Stew Mac Golden Age Classic '57 ..i like the sound, but i decided to change the pickpups.....i've installed two mini-toggles to achieve more tone flexibility,i really like all the combination of the pickups, a la Steve Morse/Brian May guitars.
All the Humbuckers from Bare Knuckle are great, I listen all "the players" section.. i think it's very difficult for me to choose...because i like all the styles, from blues to heavy metal, i love also mini humbuckers and P-90, so..what do you suggest for the replacement of my pickups?? Obviously i need the best PU'S splitting way. Thanks In Advance

I Have also a Maison Les Paul, great guitar for the price...But i think that it needs a couple of BKP Mule to became a real Gibson, these ones are good but they have too much feedback :-)

you could fit mules in the flying V also of course... and i think you would not be dissapointed with the choice. i have an epi '58 with a mule bridge, although i dont split it. straight-up its good for blues to heavy metal as you describe, and jazz too ;)

maybe the '58 is 100% kornia (if we believe the epiphone website which is not exactly 100% accurate) so maybe something different would be more appropriate. mule is surely versatile though at least, its quickly become my favourite pickup.

on points like splitting, its probably the best idea to refer to tims advice. although he has suggested crawlers in the past for this.

you wouldn't use the meat knife on crusty bread but, equally, the serrated knife and straight edge knife aren't going to go through raw meat as quickly

I could imagine Mules to sound a bit bright in an Epi Vee since Korina is brighter than Mahogany and the necks are actually Maple.

The fact that you like to coil split (and to offset the brightness of the guitar) would lead me to suggest something darker and hotter - maybe the Black Dog.  If you want to go hotter again, the Crawler really is a very versatile pickup.

Thanks for the tips but..As I did before, it's a EPI'67 Flying V  with Alder body and Mahogany neck..not the 58 Korina..so, I think Mule it'a good choice for Mahogany body for a sweet midrange tone..aS REBEL YELL,or COLD SWEAT. I've already a Les Paul for this type of sound..so, what I need is a great bluesy neck pickup and great rock tone for bridge, with all the combinations of split (take a look at the pic) I wanna achieve a  a sort of P-90 and Tele-beefed sound for the other positions...a la Jonny Lang (Telecaster Thinline with Wide Range Pu's)..Maybe Stormy Monday and VHII???

You could put in a VHII calibrated set, and get some great split sounds.  I have Rebel Yells in my PRS Standard which is all mahogany and they sound great, the coil splits work really well too.
So many pickups, so little time
