Bit of help, please
« on: April 09, 2005, 07:18:58 PM »
Hi everyone,

I want to give my Squire Tele a bit more of a kick and was wondering about the best types of pickups.  I only really play at home and sometimes with mates but I wanted to make my Tele sing a bit more.  What pickups would you recomend to give some grunt when required, especially at the bridge, but alo be warm and rounded at the neck.  I was alo considering possibly switching one of the positions to a humbucker, what would recomend?  ny suggestions would be much appreciated.  At the moment Im going towards either Piledrivers or Yardbirds. :D

Piledrivers are a great pickup for a Tele if you're used to a humbucker as there's not such a step down in power.
My current fav is the Boss set, plenty of power but plenty of  Tele cut too-great for driving rhythm and very versatile.
The Yardbird delivers that classic '60s tone-vintage hot in output with a touch of warmth and great balance in tone from the Alnico IV magnets.
