Warpig EXPOSED...

-Hello fret ticklers...
I am thinking out loud in regard to my next order-
-want to try something new...
 Going to order a Nailbomb bridge for my old SG ( my favorite  "classic" guitar design)-
-My experience with the Warpig in the 3 weeks since it arrived has been rich and toneful indeed...
 I have an idea for a custom Pig-
-I would like to know if the BK guys would consider making me an Uncovered Warpig, and  perhaps  with Fat Head pole screws-some larger, nastier, the size of rack mounting screws, and  would be curious as to your experience with different type of pole screws in regard to  coloring the sound, separation from string to string, etc.-
-I think the stock cover on the Warpig is aesthetically TOP notch, but would like to forgo it for the sake of overkill, & a vulgar display of power-Also thinking about exposed coils-???- raw patinaed copper, or another approach... -instead of plastic coil caps, using small grain "diamond plate" aluminum sheet ( 1-1.5mm thick), stainless steel, brass , or nickel,bronze,or maybe even sterling silver?-My old cold heart just palpitated...Then have you guys do your exquisate "hand-distressed camo" approach on that...
 
-Otherwise, the winding, ring-mounting screws, everything, as ( un)usual...
This would be going into my next axe project- an instrument I'm building for myself, and planning on using extensively...Going to attach a photo of my lead sketch of this design for yer amusement-It's going to be my 'Sistine Chapel' -
: labor intensive, and the sum of all I can do-

Would love some feedback- would be proud to commision a one-of-a-kind engine of aural aggression , and have nothing but respect for your experience...

I wouldn't go with too big screws. It was mentionned earlier, it will sound like that pickup that 'invades'.

changing anything on the pickup.. AFAIK .. bobbin material, base plate from metal -> plastic, pole pieces etc. WILL make the pickup sound diferent.. and you might not get the sound that you like from it (a possibility)

but with that axe.. dude.. overkill IS the way to go!

-Have been drawing it full sized today...
-In regard to these crazy spikes, and such,...no worries-
 I round every thing from the back, and my hand slips in the waist over the bridge...It's easier to change things/make it smaller, after the neck/body wings are all together,  but you can't so easily make it bigger...
- hehehe...

Is there any difference between uncovered sound and covered sound on the Warpig?

Putting a cover on any pickup lowers the resonant peak slightly-rolls the highs gently baically.
I voice the Warpig with a cover but we do make them uncovered on request.. the tone is a touch brighter with a little more cut, nothing over the top.I prefer the covered tone and actually I adjust the wind to simulate a cover whenever we get an order for an open coiled one.

Talk about precision and consistency. Another superb reason that BKP rates high for customer care.

They do sound brighter, regardless of the reduced winding, and noted DC resistance of  22.53...Honestly,  I was hoping for the same 23k, of the Warpig,  or even more, But as we are already in the stratosphere numerically, I trust that the lads at BK have done their homework, & have their reasons...
-regardless, it's sounds great, and I'm chuffed.Have it parked in my travel axe-
 will post a pic of this one when I get home from the shop...
"Wharghoul" update- neck is done, Fingerboard is finished, but won't get to assemble the body until next month- it's bound to the paper it's drawn on while I finish up  & deliver several other axes...will update as destiny unfolds...

 Uncovered Warpigs Summary-Next Time I  get the ceramic mags wound to the stock 23k, & the cool covers-& there will be a next time...
- Using them in all the axes I've built since I  received my 1st order,  and  I'm proud to  make them the "voice" of my shred machines.

Acually I adjust the winding up when a cover comes off, only slightly.
Your 23k WP may have been a 'hot' reading........remember DC should be read at ambient room temp,@70 degrees.
The ceramic WPs will be brighter and with a smoother mid, tighter bass-it's the magnet! :D
