Titanium Saddles...Worth the money ???
« on: July 04, 2007, 09:00:05 PM »
Has anyone here tried replacement titanium saddles on their guitar/s ?
If so are they worth the exhorbitant price ?
The makers claim they transform the sound of any guitar but the last time I looked a set for a Strat was about 70 quid !!!
Are they as good as claimed ?
Cheers

I'm seriously thinking about getting a set ofr my Les Paul and anpther for my Strat. They are pricey but I hear they make yor guitar sound much better by giving you a purer tone.

Many of us spend 70 quid on a fx pedal hoping terrific soinc benefit; it seems to me that improving your tone ALL THE TIME for a similar amount makes a lot of sense.....

I'll let you know when I finally get them.  :P

Apparently the KTS ones start at £39, and give a "marked improvement in depth and sustain, as well as a more pronounced individual string clarity and a more focused response".

I'm thinking of whacking one on my Gibbo - from the sounds of it I can't go wrong for £40 quid!

EDIT: I stand corrected, you're looking at £60-70 as you said. Still, like 5F says, a ton of people shell out £70 on new pickups or pedals to improve their tone, seems just as sensible to upgrade what is essentially one of the main components of your guitar's tone!

I would recommend them.  I bought a set for my Strat and they are extremely light but even more solid/robust than steel.  Because of this it allows more of the guitars natural tone to come through.  I also bought a set of Graphtech saddles for my Guild S-100 which are a nice improvement and increased some sustain.  I like the idea of having different material of saddles in different guitars.  If (when) I get a Tele, I'll get some brass saddles!
