Looking for new pick ups in two ibanezes
« on: July 10, 2007, 01:23:02 AM »
HI I'm looking for picks up to go in my two ibanezs. My ibanez rg is my all around guitar. I pretty much use it for any music style. It needs a bridge pick up that can go from playing death metal, to some punk, and then classic rock. The neck pick up needs to have a nice singing lead tone because when ever I play instrumental pieces I usually use this guitar. Think lead tone like Steve Vai or Andy Timmons., thats what I'm kinda aiming for. My Ibanez xiphos is just for straight up death metal. I need pick ups that sound absolutely crushing, and so brutal that my neighbors are afraid to come near the house when I play  :D The neck pick up still needs to have clarity for solos though. The notes really need to be nice and punchy. My current amp is a engl se through a vader cabinet, and no pedals if that will help with deciding. I hope you guys can help me find some good pick ups. Thanks for any help :)

For the all rounder rg I would put a Nailbomb in the bridge and a Cold Sweat in the neck.  If it is an HSH, the Irish Tour is a great middle pickup for this combo (I know because I have mine set up like this!).  For the other I would put either a Warpig or Miracle Man set.  The MM has a tighter sound but the Warpig is the brutal tone!
So many pickups, so little time

I also play an Ibanez RG and based on what you're after I'd say it has to be a calibrated Cold Sweat set. For the other guitar I'd go Warpig if it's anything other than mahogany and maybe MM if it is mahogany. You can't beat the CS neck almost regardless of what's in the bridge
