I said Nailbomb because in a basswood body/bolt on neck/rosewood fingerboard guitar it bleeds old school metal tone!!

Nice...

How would the other two do in this guitar?

And how about the Duncan Fullshred? I heard Viv used that one :)

I just found this clip of the STARS musicvideo.

The rhythm guitar sound is pretty much excactly what I want.

Warm, fat and beefy as a mofo.

Forgot the link :D

sounds like a dimarzio super dirtortion kind of tone

you should try the ceramic holy diver
it's probably more midrangy than the cold sweat

To be honest, I would rather not see something with a lot of push in a guitar with so little mass. That is my own opinion, however.

I think that the Holy Diver might work, but I've a feeling that the Cold Sweat will be too bright. Just a hunch.

I would go with a Painkiller in that guitar over a Cold Sweat, and definitely before considering a ceramic Holy Diver.

I would use a Miracle Man first. If you can find an original Duncan Distortion, that will do the trick, but the Miracle Man is a better version of what the Duncan Distortion does, in my opinion. I despise a bunch of Duncan pups, and the Fullshred is one of em. Just FYI. (Since you are probably going to ask me why I don't like it, I'll tell ya: it just doesn't sound like music to me)

I stand by my first gut feeling: Nailbomb!

i find the miracle man very different from anything i've heard
duncan distortion is more midrangy and a lot muddy
i think a painkiller would sound closer to duncan distortion/gibson 500t kind of tone than a miracle man
very close specs and voicing
but i think both would be a little over the top for what he's looking for

Well, I am getting myself a JCM800 so I need a pickup with some kick in it.

The Charvel is a very balanced instrument, it is loud unplugged and quite thick for a superstrat in its sound.

About the Holy Diver, I still dont get it, what would be the real difference in sound between the ceramic and alnico? And which one would be best for my use.

Twilight -> The Nailbomb is on the considerations list :)

I'd say that something like a MM would certainly be too bright as to my ears it always sounds so clinical and artificial in the distortion but the CS is surprisingly warm and organic for a ceramic pup and that is why I suggested it. To be honest, I don't think there's much to choose here between Cold Sweat, Holy Diver and Nailbomb. All are great pups and all will sound awesome in this guitar. I'd be curious to know what Tim thinks on this one.

hmm... if the alnico holy diver was a duncan it would be a fatter JB
the ceramic would be a dimarzio super distortion, which i find closer to the tone you're looking for

At this point, I'd be very seriously considering the Nailbomb - Twilight knows his pickups
