StormyMonday + BrownSugar
« on: September 22, 2007, 02:26:50 AM »
hello
Do you think a StormyMonday will suit with a BrownSugar ?
I mean do you think they are "calibrated" ?
(SM DC is 7.4k and BS is 7.6k )
I get to project to modify my tele to install a 4 positions swith with splitable humbucker.
Thanks :)

I think they would work very well.  I have a Brown Sugar with a mini humbucker at the neck and they work really well.  The Brown Sugar has enough cut and attitude to match up with a humbucker.  I think that Jonathan at Feline has used this set in one of his Tabbies.

thanks for your answers guys:D
Since the pup I talk about was fit in a LP, what do you think about the mismatching of E to E spacing (50mm for Gibson vs 53mm for Fender) ?
Do i need an additional "pup support" to install it on the tele. I mean, can I install the pup just by screwing it in directly  in the body?
Thx

I have always drilled 2 holes in the scratchplate to mount the humbucker, but I have also seen people add a surround too.  I never had a problem with no surround.  I think too much is made of string spacing.  Nearly all the orginal pickups had the same neck and bridge spacing, so one is always off.  I don't think there will be a problem at all, and also this is a neck position you are putting it in, so the strings will already be closer together.
