7 string
« on: August 24, 2007, 03:54:16 PM »
Hi
I have a vigier excalibur 7 (alder body maple neck and fretboard) and i want to replace the bridge blaze.I play progressive death metal.I like the characteristics of a tone zone(big bass and middles) but i want an even more powerful pu.I also want to hear every note i play even in chords with high gain and i wnt it to be rich harmonically for soloing.
So which pu is best?Maybe the warpig (ceramic or alnico?) the nailbomb or some other?

I'm not sure how it would sound in a 7 string, but for something very hot, fat and full of tone the Holy Diver could really float your boat.
I see a rainbow rising
Look there on the horizon

Both the nailbomb and Warpig are excellent for 7-strings. I think in this case a Nailbomb would work best.

i played a brazilian mahogany 7 string ibanez loaded with alnico warpigs
the voicing is similar to a tone zone, but it appears to have more top end and more grind
the holy diver would be a lighter choice

nailbomb sounds totally different from a tone zone to me
more focused, with sharper highs and less low mids and bass

I have a Nailbomb in my Carvin 7 (all mahogany with a maple top and a maple board)
Once I got the pick up height adjusted I really started to like it .........
a lot. It cleans up nicely and stays clear and sharp when "gained out" .
can I be the devil on your shoulder?
