What would be similar to a Duncan JB?
« on: August 23, 2007, 03:56:27 PM »
The reason for asking, on one of my Les Pauls I have a JB, and was happy with the sound.  I got another LP with Bursbuckers and was not happy so I replaced the Bridge pickup with an AIV Mule. Really love the sound, so now I want to replace the JB in my other Les Paul.

As I said I was happy with the JB until I heard Bare Knuckles.  I could go for another Mule, but do not want both guitars to be the same.
So I thought a Bare Knuckle JB that gives more clarity.

So any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,

Andy

This has been discussed at great length before on the forum, but I think the usual answer is that the Holydiver is the most suitable BKP replacement for the JB.

It's supposed to sound similar to the original JB - by all accounts it was much better than the current ones, which tend to have that slightly harsh fizzy (Hunter's description  :)  ) midrange.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Yep, that's the answer: Holy Diver.
