Ok guys talk to me about single coils! Choose one for me!
« on: September 05, 2007, 07:24:58 PM »
Im totally clueless when it comes to BKP's range of single coils i've tried the neck and middle Irish Tour which I did quite like but im after a Bridge pickup for my Schecter strat.

Im quite keen on the neck pickup in this strat and im considering stickin' a BKP in the bridge to give it a kick up the arse, so whats up for grabs? I like a midrange heavy tone with lots of power from the bridge.. I don't want too much of a clanky vintage tone I want it hot and powerful but not sharp and shrill.. so suggestions?

I originaly was going to get a Sinner myself until I contacted Tim, I told him I wanted something that could get a Leslie West sound (P90) and still be able to sound like a Strat, he suggested a Trilogy bridge pup with a zinc plated steel plate on the bottom for added midrange punch and was right, that pup can scream along with a P90 and still clean up for the Strat sound, @ 16k I was actually worried that it might be "too" hot but it turned out perfect.

I do a lot of Jazz and Country gigs too tho and use a clean sound quite a lot, but in the recording studio I need it to be able to do it all and this one does- I just came out of the recording studio the other nite (Thursday) and it did admirably (above and beyond the call) on every tune from Rock to Blues to Country.

If you're more of an agressive player tho (percentage wise) I'd tend to agree that a Sinner might suit you best, but I wouldn't overlook the Trilogy for a good contemporary sound that can still sound classic.

Awesome...

I'm going to try and pick up a strat soon and I too want a BEEFY bridge pickup with a P90 type sound. Middle and neck will be lower output though, not 100% sure what yet, but I want it to be classic strat tones.

For a fat midrange-y single coil, I'd suggest a Slowhand with a bridge plate on it :)
Selling lots of gear, enquire within!......

I'm saving and selling stuff on eBay to fund a Mother's Milk neck, Slow Hand middle and a Sinner bridge.

Want the classic strat neck tone, but I hate the icepick treble of a bridge single-coil. The Slow Hand was recommended by Tim to balance everything out.
