:D I`ve been waiting for 18 months for one of these to appear on Ebay & buy pure luck i found one. Near mint `82 model Yamaha "Lord Player" in Black ! This is her :

Now i finally have somewhere to put my Original "Cold Sweats" !!

i almost bought one identical to this (yamaha or aria pro II), but ended buying a handmade one
i love mij les pauls!
i have a hurricane lp custom and my bandmate sold his hurricane lp standard this week :(
he said it plays and sounds better than his new gibson (i didn't try the gibson yet) but he couldn't refuse the high $$$ offer and needed the $

I had no idea Yamaha had ever even made LP copies. Were they Japanese-market only like Burnys, Orvilles etc?

:D Yep. There were several manufacturers using the same production facility in Japan. Yamaha were one of these manufacturers, including Orville, Greco etc. These early LP models were so acurate that Gibson s**t itself & took all of them [ manufacturers ] to court & had there production stopped. These model MIJ guitars have become very sortafter, as there excellent LP replicas but made better with the same quality woods but better build quality. If you can find them there well worth tracking down. Yamaha used to make a bolt on neck LP copy called a "Studio Lord". These were made for the UK market but as i said there bolt on necks. The "Lord Player" was made for the Japan market but some enterprising UK wholesalers realised how well made they were & imported loads of them into the UK. It took Gibson a while but as part of the lawsuit they were able to stop the importation but agreed that Yamaha could sell bolt on neck LP copys hence "Studio Lord" guitars. These guitars are all known as "Pre-Lawsuit" models. Check out Ebay & the web as theres loads of info about them [ all manufacturers that is ]

:D Because the name as written on the Headstock looked like a LP logo this help Gibson in the court case.

:D I assumed it would be written like that, looks great. The "Standard" on the truss rod cover probably didn't help Yamaha's defence either...
