Whats a good hard disc recorder that's simple to use and not too many £'s?

I am a complete novice at this but hink it something I would like to get into. I've tried using cubase but that wrecks my head so something a little more fool proof. I have a POD so no need for built in FX.

Try Adobe Audition 2.0 (ex COOL EDIT PRO)! It's very easy to work with, but still quite professional.

OR Sony Sound Forge, which is quite similar, but in my opinion not as easy to use as Audition. I just like Audition interface much more, dough Sound Forge has some of its own advantages....

Yamaha makes very durable, easy to use, and great price:performance stand alone HDD recording units.

Well I gave it a look and Audition is best part of £300. Compare this to something like a Tascam DP-01 or Zoom MRS-8 for under £200. Although I lean towards the Tascam as it has a 40gb hard drive
