Seeking that : Billy Duffy (The Cult) sound
« on: September 29, 2007, 10:04:54 PM »
I wonder if anyone can help......

I am seeking that fat rock sound that guitar maestro, Billy Duffy, has.  i.e - Sonic Temple, Beyond Good & Evil, era (Gibson LP). He has a fantastic layered sound be it cleans or dirt.

I'm sure his Marshalls help but does anybody know of his FX pedals set up , in particular the distortion/OD used and how 'that sound' is achieved  8) .

Cheerz all

you could try guitar rig 2 to get the sound. I've found that using guitar rig you can emulate pretty much any tone, he got a very dark tone yet with a lot of hair on it, which comes from the JCM800. The Keeley SD-1 pedal is a very similar tone and you can control how much hair you put in your amp lol I'm getting one soon

hope this helps you in some way.
