Even better... pimp out a Hello Kitty Strat with the hottest humbucker you can find and a Floydy. :D

Been looking at squier teles. I don't get it.
The cheaper Affinity series have solid Alder bodies, and the more expensive standard series have nasty agathis bodies? what's the deal?
I'll go and try them both out when i have the time, but it seems a bit of a strange idea. maybe the specs are wrong?
The JHS 'Vintage' line of telecasters (TC200) series would be very tempting, but Poplar as a tonewood? i don't know.

At the moment if those specs are correct I really don't see how everyone doesn't just buy £100 affinity squiers, lol. Maybe they just plain suck.

If you check out the Affinity Tele on the GAK website it says:  "The Affinity Strat and Affinity Tele have slightly slimmer bodies crafted from solid Alder (U.S. only) or Agathis."  Does that mean in the UK they will be agathis?!

The Lite ash series are brilliant
We pimped out Afghan Dave's lite ash strat with Dunlop 6000 and it is too much fun to play!

Bit of a bargain in many ways

Well I'm sure she knows an A chord, possibly a E and she's likely mastered a G chord by now.

The squire Teles are nice and the Mex teles are even niver.

However if the budget can stretch I would suggest looking at the Lite ash (far eastern version) which comes in about 320 quid from thomann and includes a set of duncans (sell them and recover some costs when upgrading).

I love the look of the Lite Ash ones but I just couldn't shake the feeling that something bad would happen. That guitar should cost twice what it does and it makes me very, very suspicious. I wonder if it was assembled by blind dogs?

Trust me, it wasn't. My Lite Ash Tele is the best £350 I've ever spent. The only thing which needed doing to it when I took it to the local tech for a stright-out-of-the-box set up was a slight tweak on the nut and a lowering of the action to my taste. He said it was some of the best fretwork he'd seen on any guitar, at any price. If one wanted to be critical, the tuners aren't quite as good as you'd fins on US Fenders, and the pickup switch feels a little plasticky in its operation, but that's about all.

In my time Tele hunting I played 7 Lite Ash ones to get an idea of build quality and didn't find one lemon. Highly recommended in my book.

The Lite Ash Teles (and Strats) are a steal - the only things not to like about them are purely personal preference (the necks are a bit skinny for me and I don't like the abalone dot markers).

I'd upgrade the tuners and electronics, but the same's true with all far-east guitars, pretty much.

I'm still GAS-ing for that cute white Lite Ash Tele I tried some time ago. But I have no money at the moment and I'm still waiting for news about my amp.

^ Friend of mine has just taken delivery of one in white, he's delighted with it! Course, I reckon the black looks better, but then I'm biased.
