I finally got the Dean ML I've been longing for ...
the '79 Cherryburst one :twisted:

anyway, after having rehearsed with it a few times,
I've found that the pickups doesn't give me
the sound I'm after :(

I run a pretty simple setup ... :
Guitar -> custom treblebooster -> Randall RH100 amp(w/ 4x12 Marshall cab)

I like playing around with the feedback alot,
and the only way I can achieve that is by cranking the gainknob on the amp.
the con is that my sound gets too distorted, and I don't like it.

so I'm pretty sure it's the pickups who are at fault.
Something must be done. Hotter pickup maybe ?

The guitar is pure mahogany with maple top(veneer),
and I'm looking for something that can get me in the ballpark
of 70's/80's rock/metal and more modern heavymetal.

Maybe something bright with loads of output ? :D

going for a 80's oriented sound.
no specific player comes to mind though.

I'm thinking ... maybe ... a pickup with
the tonal quality of a PAF and the MAD OUTPUT
of a Dimarzio X2N :!: :D

but do any of them have extreme output ? 8)

so for bridge, I'm going for some low-bass, extreme output pickup
similar to the X2N but with the tonal qualities of a JB(which is
a typical 80's pickup to me ;) think Jake E Lee, Lynch, DeMartini :)) roll down the volume and it's
sharp enough to mimic a singlecoil for Ritchie Blackmore :twisted:

the neck pickup ... of course I want it to be up to par
with the bridge, volume-wise, but it's gonna be very
smooth and not to ballsy. I had a PAF Pro in the neck
once and it was way to loud and "round".
think of the neck pickup as Slash but with more output :twisted:

I like the 3+3 offset covers as well,
so I'd like both pickups to have them :D

i think the miracle man has a bit more output than the painkiller
both are very high output, but not extreme
the painkiller has a bit less output than a gibson 500t
the miracle man has more bass and less mids than the pk
i've seen a lot people calling miracle man "smooth", but i for my ears it sounds as smooth as a chainsaw :lol:
and that's exactly what i love in it :oops:

I don't know if the 3+3 covers are available, but they'd look very cool.

I think that's one to ask Tim really. It's a "one word answer" type of question!

As long as the polepiece spacing on the covers matches the spacing on the BKP bobbins. They do vary a bit with different manufacturers.
