that sucks.

now that you mention it, my edwards came by parcelforce, and there was a big ding in the side like yours... luckily ishibashi had the thing extremely well parcelled.

I asked the parcelforce dude if I could open it to check it's alright, he said I couldn't, but I could sign "uninspected" (which i did)... he claimed "it's fine, look!"...

so i pointed to the big hole in the side of the box.

Not impressed, I was just lucky ishibashi are awesome, I guess.

:)

Like Jonathan says the superglue repair is probably the best way to go if your going to try it yourself. It gives you the same sort of thickness as polyester in one application and you can add spirit stains to it to match it to the colour of the lacquer finish on the guitar. If you want a really pro job try Martin Sims (Sims Custom) or Danny McPherson (DM Guitars). I put all my paint jobs to one or the other of these two gentlemen now 'cos they can do it faster, cheaper and better than I can.

funny that aint it - when ever i take a guitar shaped box to the post office to send away they are more than happy to let me pay the extra to insure it for full value... You would think they would point it out

i havnt had a problem with parcelforce so far but that bit of red tape puts me off using them again

The guy at our post office has always told me that paying for the insurance covers you up to a maximum of £500. We also have the same argument over and over again about whether the box is longer than 1.5 meters or not. Fortunately I use a courier service 90% of the time but unfortunately some people do request shipment by Royal Mail / Parcel Force. Does anyone out there work for the post office or know the real story?

Well, my Tiny Terror did finally turn up  :)  (nearly 6 weeks after I ordered it  :( ).  It was exactly where it should have been, at my local Post Office, but the old boy there was too blind to read the label or something.  Fortunately, on my third visit, the boss man was in.

Any news on your Washburn, LazyNinja?

Tell me about it!  We're still recovering from the strike in my area and the post has been rubbish - I'm still waiting for a couple of things that were sent at the end of September.

They weren't delivering small parcels/packets at all, then suddenly this morning 7 turned up - 3 for me and 4 for my neighbour.  They just rang the bell and left them on the doorstep!

I may have to wait a while longer for that - I don't own a cab of any description!  But I might be able to try it with the speaker in one of my combos, if the speaker cable is long enough.

Yeah that's what I mean. I've had plenty of good deals on ebay but occasional ones like this seems to balance it out. Fortunately though I got a refund from the guy straight away he just needs to arrange the return postage for the guitar now.

Yeah thanks Philly. I'm still a bit disappointed but I'm glad that it's (nearly as you said) sorted out.

Washburns are VERY nice guitars in my opinion. Mine is a top Korean model but the craftsmanship is great. Better than my Gibbo to be honest. Very solidly built with no dodgy looking body joins or anything and hardwares were properly fitted. Plays very well too it's very satisfying to be able to bend the 19th frets without removing my thumb from the neck. The only thing I wish it had is a  body with the same thickness as an LP.

You know what. I might keep it lol since I only paid £200 for it and if the compensation is anywhere near £150 its a killer guitar for £50! I just wanna wait til the compensation is sorted then I'll decide.
