Anyone here using Windows Vista and X-Fi card?
« on: November 24, 2007, 07:56:46 AM »
Well, if there is anyone, I need a little help, since those a**holes on the Creative Labs forum can't spend their 2 minutes of life to check something for me.

So, if anyone does, please download these 2 midi files

http://www.box.net/shared/2vxsohpagv

play them, and check if there are any dropouts, note displacements and such.

Thanks :)
I wish women were like pickups - if they lack output, you sell them... or ask Tim to rewind them :D

Windows Vista is a very bloated, buggy and vulnerable OS. Please please PLEASE go back to XP. Your computer will thank you   8)

And for once on these boards, I actually know what I'm talking about  :P  I'm the computer systems admin at work. Yay for me...

I might consider Vista in a year and a half, by then they might have ironed out the major bugs. Actually I might leave it 2 years to be a bit safer.

Sorry, don't use the thingy thing, but do have Vista.
To be fair, when XP came out people said there were going to be so many issues... there really weren't that many notable ones
The only thing I have come across thats an issue is can't use my old creative webcam (no biggy) and firefox crashed twice in 6 months.
If people say that it takes up too much memory, it is DEFINATELY more economic with the memory and it is not noticeable.(my system is bordering minimum requirements)

so basically, If you want Vista for general usagage I would recomend it, If you find an issue with compatability, either :

Dual boot the system so you have both or

or have a looksy at VM Ware, so you can then run XP as well

and Vista is damn pretty :D

Ok, this will be my final post on this subject, lest I start a holy war  :P

But there is not a SINGLE benchmark for ANY program that shows a program running faster on Vista than XP. All drivers for Vista are still largely buggy, Vista consumes FAR more RAM than XP and has more background processes running.

If anyone out there thinks that their Vista runs better than XP, it's because their XP was badly set up and had tons of spyware on it... then when they formatted and went to a clean Vista install, they thought, "WOAH! It rocks!" They're wrong   8)

A clean XP installation will blow a clean Vista out of the water every day, and twice on Sundays.

I don't get why people like macs, so ye they do some things better than windows but I don't like the idea of having to buy a mac just to use their OS

and then you got apple fan boys, who think microsoft are evil, they are, but apple would be just as bad if they were the number 1 OS seller

as for vista, I'll be upgrading to it in the new year so I got DX10 for games, I believe the higher ram usage is for caching so programs load quicker
