Neck to match Holy Diver for baritone-tuned Kramer?
« on: December 09, 2007, 05:40:30 PM »
Hi all,

I'm in the process of reviving a Kramer I've had for ages. It's made out of very dense alder, and is very bright sounding to the point of harshness. I'm planning on slinging some heavy strings on it and tuning it down to Bb standard.

At first I was planning that I'd only have a bridge pickup, and for that will be getting a Holy Diver as Tim recommended when I spoke to him. But now I'm thinking one pickup will be limiting, and I'd like to get a neck unit (humbucker) for some deep and bell-like cleans and fluid leads with lots of clarity. From the looks of things, the Mule, Stormy Monday and Crawler are all full and warm sounding pickups, but I don't know if they'd make a good match with the Holy Diver. Would I be better off going for something with more power?

Thanks in advance!

cold sweat might sound a bit artificial against the holydiver, the HD is like a really hot rock pickup, but to me the CS neck sounds quite modern and fluid.

they wont sound similar, but they'll match up output wise and probably give what your looking for.

personally i'd just suggest getting the matching pickup.

Thanks guys,
I'm not too worried about them sounding similar. A friend of mine has a Cold Sweat and I rather like the sound of it. Think I may get one, unless there are any other suggestions?
