52 Tele Hot-Rod bridge replacement?
« on: October 25, 2007, 05:11:30 PM »
Hi, I was wondering if anyone out there knows of a good choice of Bare Knuckle bridge pick-up to balance well with the SD mini-humbucker that comes with these guitars at all?

I'm, reasonably happy as is, but feel a BKP would make me smile even more..

Thanks

I have a Brown Sugar bridge with a mini humbucker neck in a tele and they work together really well.  I used to use a Piledriver with it but prefer the sound with the Brown Sugar.
So many pickups, so little time

Thanks, yes good shout, im thinking of a Brown Sugar actually..i gigged the hot-rod last night and the output in the mid position was great, but i found the single coil on it's own maybe lacked some beef..

I'm used to my other two Teles being BKP equipped, that the stock Fender did seem to lack punch in comparison.

Have installed a Brown Sugar..and it sounds bloody tasty  :D  I'd thoroughly recommend anyone with a '52 hot-Rod to do the same if you are finding the Fender stock pick-up a bit weak!

I don't have a '52 Hot-Rod, but I have been considering putting a mini-humbucker in my Tele.

I was thinking a Boss bridge might do the job too.  It's childish, but I'm put off the Brown Sugar because I never could stand the Stones (although I don't like Springsteen either, come to think of it   ).

[I know, I know, the pickup names are only an indication of the type of tone they can produce.   ]
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Ha i have to agree with you - i'm a fan of neither The Stones Or Brucie, but ignore the name and give some a try, i'm sure you would like them..i did contemplate a Boss bridge myself, but figured it might be a tad too pokey for my needs  :)

^ +1

if someone doesn't do some clips it's gonna end in me buying some BKPs for my '72 Custom RI and then my bank manager would be having serious words with me
