New Boss BR-900 and Emerald clips dilemma.
« on: December 18, 2007, 05:37:36 AM »
I put Emerald BKP's in my Gibson LP Classic and it's totally transformed the guitar for me .... so much so that I went out and picked up a Boss BR-900 to have some fun with.

I also want to put some clips in the Players section and with the BR-900 this is going to be easy to do (after reading the manual for a week   )

But ... I realised that the gear I use is all pretty much Roland/Boss stuff - with their associated COSM effect range.

I have a Roland Cube 30, Boss GT-6 and now the BR-900 - all COSM powered.

Now I can get some truley wonderful tones from my LP using any of these 3 bits of kit ... and my dilemma is this ...

If I post clips of my Emerald powered LP using COSM effects, these may not give a true representation of the Emeralds, going through a Marsall or similar.

I can hear a big, big difference from the stock Gibson pup's and I'm keen to let people hear the Emerald pup's but I just don't have access to amps that some others have here.

So ... Basically do I post purely effect generated clips, or not?

My view is well why not?A good proportion of guitarists are in the same boat as you and use the same type of gear so it is, in my view, every bit as valid.Indeed, all the clips I have posted in the past have been recorded at home on a digital recorder using (oh no, deep breath) a pod. So go for it.

Yeah +1 just go for it!

Most of us do have enough experience to hear trough effects used, posting a clean clip would be very helpfull too in this respect, just a few bars and a toggle would be great.

just post the details of how you recorded it along with the clips - that will let everyone make informed choices

Thanks for that.

I'll get to recording some clips and posting them as soon as I can.
