Miracle Man Question
« on: December 23, 2007, 06:01:19 AM »
Hi

I know the miracle man is supposed to be a fantastic alternative to the
Emg 81.

Is the miracle man brighter sounding.

I find my Emg 81 lifeless and dark sounding.

Uhm,.... how on earth did you come to think of the EMG81 as "dark" sounding?

I just did some research it turns out I don't more treble at all I want more Upper Mid Range and Presence.

Boosting the 2 khz and 4 khz bands on are Graphic Eq seem to give me the tone I want. At the same time I would rather not use an Eq.

That doesn't fix the lifeless Emg Sound.

well
at least in MY 2 les pauls, the miracle man sounded VERY dark, but it's high end is very strong and cuts pretty well
i had an emg 81 too, tried a duncan custom, duncan distortion, gibson 500T and other ceramics... the miracle man is definetely a lot better and more organic than all of these
i tried the painkiller in another guitar and i liked it too, but miracle man is still my favorite ceramic bridge pickup (my favorite ceramic neck was gibson 496R)
