check out search engine-lots of info-it is my fave so far-sits perfectly in my LP standard-perfect for blues..classic rock /metal...not compressed sounding-I can hear the wood and still have the power-the calibrated set is Holy Grail for me..the neck pup is beautiful, full, and clear-open chords are just chinkychankybrrrriiinnggggy-geat sustain..pinch harmonics not a prob.-brighter sounding than the p gates I had been playing-miles better than the burstbuckers IMO-check out steve stevens sound bytes..player section

Hello

I have the rebel Yell in a 1980s greg howe fender heavy metal strat which has a HSS configuration.

Its not a modern sounding pickup yet not vintage either, its somewhere between. It has a lot of mids and is very clear sounding. In my experience this pickup is a great building block which doesn't bias itself too far in one distance or the other. As with all humbuckers it has a slightly compressed sound but you get that will all humbuckers to some extent. I think this pickup can basically get almost any sound out of it you want depending on the rest of your gear.
It sounds like a refined 80's high output passive humbucker more of a guitarists guitarist type pickup. Roll off the volume abit and you can get a cool kinda vintage tone without losing too much attack.

To be fair to the Steve Stevens Demo my pickup sounds nothing like it but then again I'm not steve stevens (sigh) If you were to ask any questions I would be more than happy to answer so please ask away!

I'm curious about the output and the magnet.

Its alnico 5 I think. I've had my RY in my strat for the past few days and its not bad. The lead tones are awesome because its so middy, but I find that for rhythm its too modern and high output for my taste, though maybe its just not a good match for this guitar as I think it was made for Les Pauls?

I find it to be much hotter than my Mule but I guess thats to be expected as the DC res is almost double.

go to homepage and check it out in Products-it is AV ..seems like 14k-15k-Muso is right about his not sounding exactly like the clip-as we all know, there are many links in tone, but with my setup(Mesa MArk series amps-Iv and IIC+..12ax7 and 6l6/el 34 simulclass), my tone is close(not playing, of course..!)

I see lots and lots of questions about magnets on the forum, to be honest a very few people would be able to really notice that much of a difference its just being picky. I'm sure pickup makers can really note a difference but to the average joe on the forum its nothing. The output isn't gonna make a massive difference either, thats what a volume control is for. What is your experience with pickups?
