Hi everyone! My first post here. I, like many of you, have been searching for the perfect pickup set for a long, long time. I just recently installed a pair of Gibson Burstbucker Pros and it didn't take me long to figure out that I couldn't stand them. So, after much debate and research, I chose a pair of Alnico IV potted Mules. I am eagerly anticipating their arrival. I will be dropping them in to my Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus project guitar. I have owned a good numbr of guitars and have to say that this baby has been tranformed into a wonderful sounding guitar. Along with installing the Mules, I will be changing out all the electronics with a complete premium modern upgrade kit from RSguitarworks. That, combined with the tonepros bridge hardware, kluson tuners, and Gibson speed control knobs have turned this guitar into a mean machine that has really been fun to work on.
So with that said, I wanted to get everyone's opinion on the best blues/classic rock set. Tim suggested the Mules alnico IV powered. I trust his input but it is always fun to get others opinions as well. I thought about a Stormy Monday neck along with a Mule bridge and a pair of other various cominations. Anyone have other interesting combos??
