Questions on Sheraton, Mississippi Queens and Bridge HBs
« on: January 12, 2008, 09:17:29 PM »
I have recently re-acquired my Epiphone Sheraton II with gold hardware. It's in a sorry state at the moment but once I've fixed it I'm thinking I'm going to put some BKPs in it.

I've been reading and I'm tempted by having a nice warm bridge humbucker for a bit of grind with a mississippi queen in the neck. I have a few questions though...

1) What bridge pickups are recommended for a 335 style guitar for some classic->hard rock?
2) The "gold" pickup cover for the mississippi queen in the product section looks like it won't match. It doesn't even look the same as other gold covers on the site. Is this an error? Or are the "gold" MQs really that colour?
3) What's the advantage of a calibrated set of pickups? I'm thinking that if I don't like either pickup in my sheraton I'll put it in my LP-alike and buy another to match it.

Thank you.

1. You could use a Stormy Monday, a Mule or even a Riff Raff. From these three the Mule would be the warmest but also the most versitile.

2. I think that is just because the light fell on it differently.

3. Calibrated sets are made too be a perfect match. There´s plenty of info about calibrated sets if you use the search function.
