one of my friends at work plays it obsessively! I just reply because I think its quite a cool game concept, but I haven't progressed very far in it myself.

I once took a week off work in the late 80s to play Rogue, Moria and an early version of Nethack (a really sad thing to do)

I decided that I preferred Rogue at the time (Blizzards Diablo was inspired by this version)

Lately I installed a version of nethack on my iPaq which is useful when you have been sent off on a course )and don't want to spend too much time in hotel bars.)

Edit : Just discovered Mangband which is a multi player version http://www.mangband.org/ which could be fun

Just in case anybody's interested, I've managed to complete the Sokoban levels a couple of times... lots of food, wands and either an amulet of reflection or a bag of holding.
Still not getting much further though... I caught lycanthropy and rats can't carry much...

the sokoban levels? - but i understand from mentioned friend that you've done pretty well to get that far...
