That particular one looks just like the Epi So Cal, and if it is anything like it than I would snatch it up for that price. I tried the So Cal out a few times and really liked it, has a very deep reverb channel.

thats a fantastic deal - I bet you could turn that 1/2 stack round for a £100 profit on evilbay.

someone will pay £150 for the head and the same for the cab if listed in seperate auctions, surely.  or even £100 for the cab and £200 for the head.

I'm buying ten of 'em

^ yeah, sound control is funny- often they're relatively expensive, but then every so often they come along with a killer deal.

i've told the dudes at ultimate-guitar. Just to let you know, I hope that's ok, ted- i just figured i might as well let people know about it.

Damn! I'd have bought one if it wasn't UK mainland only :(
I could've done a 2/3 stack with my 2x12" for cheap

see, i'd be real tempted by that, but they only deliver to UK mainland! although, i suppose i should be grateful for that, cause it saves me £200 and means i don't have to find the space for a big smelly 4x12

I just checked on the soundcontrol website, and it says that they ship anywhere within the UK.

Now, it wouldn't be the first time that a business didn't actually realise what the UK meant, but it sounds to me like they ship to Northern Ireland. Based on what they've written on their website, anyway.

yeah, i read that too, but then i put the amp in my cart (just to see how much shipping would cost you understand    )  and that's when it said mainland only.  you might be right, but i was prepared to be easily discouraged!  a bargain may be hard to pass up, but sometimes you just know you shouldn't

ah ok, that's further than I went, i didn't put anything in the cart, i was just going by the help page.

I can't stand the companies which take the piss out of us northern irish folk. i mean, how hard would it be to say in the FAQ section, "we don't ship outside the mainland UK"?

   :x

EDIT: I should add that there's no such thing as "mainland UK". "Mainland UK" is great britain. The UK means "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland". Get it right, FFS!

Gah. It just annoys me.  With good reason. :x

yep, there are a couple of firms i've nearly bought things off who charged, say £5 for postage, but it was gonna be maybe £60 to Northern Ireland!!! but theni e-mailed a firm once asking was it any extra for here, as their site stated Mainland, and he said that as far as the post office is concerned Northern Ireland IS mainland! it is included as part of the UK and postage should cost the same.

i think a lot of people just can't be bothered going to any extra effort so just make it that we won't bother them.

yeah, it's really daft, and not helped by the fact that a lot of people don't know, and don't seem to want to know. and also seem to consider it your problem to find out, even though you're buying off them (not talking about any businesses or businesspeople who post on this forum, of course- i mean bigger concerns)- you almost wonder why you're giving them your business! it's like the customer's always right, unless you're from northern ireland, in which case you're a second-class citizen and we don't want your money...  :?

And as you say, if you post with the post office or parcelforce, the postage is the same... a lot of the time I think it's just an excuse to make an extra tenner profit at our expense... because let's face it, odds are it's still cheaper than what we pay here (or it's just not available over here)...

Quote from: Machinehead

One of the Sound Control sales guys I spoke to claimed that Legacy and Grainger were built in Chinese Epiphone plants. That's probably a load of b@llocks but it's what he claimed  :D

This is half true, the Grainger's are just the Epiphone models with a different name on, the higher priced Legacy guitars are also Epiphones, only with EMG HZ pickups in, Soundcontrol's commisioning of Epi clones has been a major factor to their fall out with Rosetti, leading toward their buying in of Gibson and Epiphone from other Gibson distributors and in the end, Rosetti's loss of the Gibson deal.

Or so the grapevine suggests...The fact that a very recently departed Soundcontrol director is now the head of Gibson UK might have an impact in the future though, when Soundcontrol are buying in the exact same products with a different name on for a vastly lower price than their old pal is selling them.
