I like it. Sounds a bit like ... Opeth imitating Dream Theater imitating Opeth PDT_008


I prefer the sound of the Marshalls, even on this cr@ppy recording. It has a very old school Metallica type of vibe that's very cool, as well.

They've played Marshalls during gigs in the past since they're more readily available from local gig organizers / rental places, or so I've heard.

Rarely do i see bands live using the amps they use for recording, usually they just use what's available, unless they are a huge band that can afford to ship all their gear over e.g. Metallica.

Depends largely on how accessible stuff they are used to is, I guess. I saw Joe Bonamassa last month (in the UK), and he had his full four-amp rig with him, as did Mark Tremonti when I saw Alter Bridge a few years back. As far as Opeth are concerned, they had Laneys when they recorded the Lamentations DVD. But I take your point, a lot of bands do use rented backline.

They had laneys on stage, but it was DI'ed and reamped later through Andy Sneaps modded marshall.
