machine heads

hey, i have a tokai SG, its the jap model.. but the tuning stability isnt great, im wanting to change the hardware over to chrome anyway, so im going to change the machine heads first.. what are the best machine heads to put on?? which wont require any additional drilling.

I would prefer to have vintage style ones, well ones that look like the mahchine heads on an SG.. but if i need to i can change over to a standard looking machine head.

I have been looking at the grover vintage style ones.. but i dont know how good they are. i could get a set of gibson ones for about £50.. but are they any good???

any suggestions??

Take a look at tonepros I think, they have some Kluson styled ones if thats what you mean

I use Grover Machine Heads on my Indie, it has a locking nut, etc. though. but I like them.

I got some of these off Johnathon (Feline guitars) and they're great! Highly recommended

Just get the drilling done and get some Sperzels - Imo nothing comes close to how solid and brilliant they are.

We keep the Tonepros and Sperzels in stock
With the tonepros there are two fittings - one that uses push in bushings and the version that bolts through front to back.
Tonepros sat that it is imortant to use the bushings that they supply to get the best from them in the push in bushing version.

We recently got one of these from stewmac to make the job easier

I put a set each on my Epi LP (push busings) and my Epi SG (screw bushings) - it is now a delight to tune these guitars where it always used to be a bit of a battle...
