I haven't seen the director's cut, no.

Maybe it was one of those films that was cut to the point of removing the good bits and just leaving the basic plot behind

It's not hugely different, but it's a bit more violent (less annoying jump-cut editing in the action scenes) and the romance with Elektra is played down.  And there are a few little extra bits of background/character development - the type of stuff which is always in Deleted Scenes on DVDs, but which would have been better left in.

Nick Fury being black is perfectly correct Continuity.

Nick Fury has been black ever since his first appearance in the Ultimate universe.

Too modern for me!  I go back to the old Sgt Fury and Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. comics.

I just had to look it up in Wikipedia, and I see they actually modelled the character on Samuel L. Jackson!  Good casting then!

Brilliant isn't it!

They cast the same guy they modelled it on years earlier! :D

I found it hilarious.

Whenever I read about what's happened in the Marvel universe(s) in the last 20-odd years, I get the urge to start buying them again and try to catch up.  But it'd be an impossible task!  :(

So maybe there's an Avengers movie in the offing?  I know they've been planning a Nick Fury movie for years.

quite possibly ..

or at least iron mans parts from the avengers line of comics... there also were two full lenght cartoons of the avengers i think

I think the next Marvel(lous) movie is going to be more Avengers than Iron Man. Not that that's bad, it'll be open to some awesome movie performance but Iron Man better have some improvement gadgetry and maybe a new suit or something!

i think, there will be a space suit (it has been hinted towards it in the movie). and quite possibly the black ceramic cloaking/dissapearing suit, he used to battle magneto with. maybe even magneto himself appearing in it, seeing they'll do a spinoff about his life soon.

gotta love the marvel universe :D the options are endless

I did actually think about buying the volume 3 comics, back in '98 I bought two comics on Iron Man, and it was awesome! Especially the new suit he wore. But the Ghost appeared and I've been dying to know what happened ever since that.

But I found on eBay you can get issue #1-40 for £55.

Apparently Marvel Movies are dead set against crossovers, so getting hopes up about spiderman vs iron man vs the hulk may be a bit hasty...

I really enjoyed it, and for a sequel I'm hoping warmachine gets his suit and kicks asses.

aw man .. and i hoped iron man would crush spiderman like the bug he is! god i hate the spiderman movies so much! >.<

and hulk wasnt good either... as far as the new hulk trailers, nothing makes me want to see it either. edward norton or not. IMO, it's just going to be a black spot in his career.

i am looking forward to the wolverine and magneto movies. those should be pretty cool (even though, both will probably have some recycled scenes from the X-Men movies)

from wiki:
Director Jon Favreau told AintItCoolNews that War Machine would not appear in the first film, but would in the sequels.

I really do wish I had the time and commitment required to actually read all these comics, but damn, there's a whole load of decades worth to catch up on!

Can anyone recommend any good Omnibus type things to catch up?

Ive never been into this but i watched Iron man and and the Hulk looks like it will be good. Ive just spent all morning on the marvel website just browsing, and the marvel universe is sooooo cool lol.

Me and some freinds have also been debating who can beat the Hulk. shame bout the first movie making him look like a stroppy toddler.

What's really funny is the bit in Ultimates where they're sat round discussing who'd play them in a movie and Fury actually says "Samuel L. Jackson of course"

Chuck Norris can beat The Incredible Hulk. 8)

Personally I'd say that Todd McFarlane's SPAWN is one of the best comics you'll find. Same goes for Judge Dredd (and he's a British creation so all the better!). They both made shitee films though because Hollywood decided to ignore the intelligence of the readers and so you got Sylvester Stallone as Dredd (probably the only man alive with the correct chin for the role though...). I went to see it at the 02 Dome last night, very good. I've asked me mum if she'll get me an Iron Man suit for me birthday, she said we'll see!
