That must be quite annoying. I am guessing there is a lot of moneys worth there.
Does it completely stop you working?

I would guess they are in the van, as you can't take all your tools back to a workshop and empty your van every night?

ive had to take the day off work so the window can be repaired. not sure if i wil get paid for it tho...

i take the van home in the evenings. unloading all the tools at night then loading them all up again in the morning would be a right pain, but im gonna do it with my own personal tools from now on.

these were taken:

a £300 battery drill (mine. only a month old... grr)
a 110v jigsaw (companys) £200
a battery skilsaw (companys) £250
a box of core cutters £200

Cheeky gits.

I instal cables up to 132,000V (well I drink coffee, someone else actually does the work   ) and they keep nicking them (or parts of them anyway).

At least most of it was company stuff.  Does your insurance cover the rest?
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

I doubt whether insurance will cover that-hopefully I am wrong but many policies exclude thefts from unattended vehicles.

Does the van have caged windows and a cage splitter between the back of the van and the front seats? Would be a good idea in the future to install something like that.

I used to be a refridgeration engineer and heard stories about 1000's of pounds worth of tools being taken from vans and it's enough to piss any one off. The thieves know that the owner NEEDS them, but the thick bast**ds don't care what so ever and think they can get away with it, which is what frustrates me more so when I hear about it.

the tools were not insured. my boss is gonna get  steel lockup boxes for all the fleet vans now. he also said he will get me a new drill which is nice :)

he said insurance for tools in vans is absolute extortion hence they didn't have any.

its been a pretty shite week really. bought a £150 guitar neck off ebay which took ages to arrive. when it turned up it was far too glossy for my project (my mistake for now scrutinising the info properly) and when i had it in my hands i thought it was extremely overpriced (i didnt tell him that tho).

he agreed for me to return it so i sent it back RM special delivery. the tracking number said it was delivered but hes denied reciept. ive got to claim for it through royal mail now.

Back in February we had a planned electricity shutdown and our street was to be fed by a generator during the day/evening whilst some mains alterations were carried out. The electricity supply must have been interupted about 5 or 6 times during the day - the final interuption blew 2 hard drives on my computer (and cost me £262 to get fixed). When I went screaming on the phone to complain it was revealed that some guys had turned up in a van and stole the 'live' temporary cables which ran from the generator into the substation. Unfortunately they didn't electrocute themselves but I believe there were eventually caught thanks to the police helicopter chasing them up the M5.

Theft is a pretty low form of crime in all cases. Stealing another's tools, is stealing their livelyhood. That's on a par with pensioner mugging and kiidy fiddling in my view. Inevitable the courts will take anther, if the police can be bothered to catch him.
