i'm sitting in on a hip hop band unfortunately with lots of songs in weird keys, so i need a capo.

as a steinberger fan, was thinking of the planet waves 'NS' capo.

any other recommendation for a really good capo for electric guitars?

G7 - the bestest in my view

Yeah, G7th capos are good, easy to clamp, and not too powerful.

Depending on whether you want to experiment, etc, you could look at the Shubb C7b Partial Capo (I think that's there exact name, but may not be). It covers 3 strings, but skips the first one, and could be a handy little thing to have, although probably not, but you could always look.

I have a Shubb which is very good but I gather from friends that the G7 is pretty good but I've not used one so cannot comment.

I use a simple Dunlop Trigger Capo. Easy to install and gets the job done.

Planet Waves Dual action capo.

I use a G7th capo, which is brilliant as well.

EDIT: whoops didnt see you ordered one already. The G7th is a great capo, very very glad I bought mine.

another vote on the G7, it's what I use and it doesn't clamp the strings too hard like other capos meaning that the tuning isn't pulled too sharp.

I use a Dunlop Trigger Capo and a Kyser as well. They are both good for partial capoing too. Across 5 strings at the 2nd fret leaving the bottom E uncapoes, instant Drop D (but in key of E). Great for using in open tunings in a similar way.

Also useful for clamping across the strings on an acoustic when you loosen them from the bridge for repair work. You dont have them flopping about all over the place. Essential when setting up resonators.

Another advantage. They can be clamped to the headstock when not in use.

Maybe it's because I did a degree with quite stringent, backwards, grumpy tutors, but I find the only capo I ever need is my index finger.

the G7 arrived this morning and works easily and with absolutely zero drama.

its quite nice to write some riffs in different keys to e and a minor ;)
