Bigsby B7 operation

O guys a little tonal story.

My Lp sports a B7 Bigbsy. Unfortunately the roller bar forces the strings down very "soon" so the guitar has an extra tension I'm not very fond of. Besides he strings touch the back of the bridge killing some harmonic content... uhmmmm

So what have I done? I've got rid of the bar. The strings now run fairly parallel with no steep angles Now my impression is the opposite; the strings feel a tad rubbery and I've traded the old sustain for a nice ( yet shorter ) shade of overtones.

Overrall I'm happy with the change but the Bigsby look a bit odd and I guess I'll have to get used to the tonal change.

Anybody has tried this mod??

I love Bigsby's but I'm not too fond of the ones with tension bars. I've done the same mod but wasn't happy with the look of it either so I replaced by a Bigsby B3 (or B30). Looks better but you're still gonna be stuck with the srew holes in the body.

I assume you have a TOM bridge on there. You can replace it bith a so called bar bridge. Tons of sustain but you will have to live with some intonation issues. These can be solved by an earvana compendated nut.

They easiest way to get more sustain is to go up a gauge in strings.
