Pickups ... The ... And Justice For All Metallica Sound!!
« on: July 04, 2008, 05:27:54 PM »
Hi all
Looking for a set of BareKnuckle Pickups to nail the .. And justice For All Sound .. I have a set Miracles man's in my Ibanez RGA-121 ( Mahogany body with Natural Finish Maple top) but there's just not enough Mids to upper mids for my taste (Great Pickups though) ... The closest sound i know of, to what I would like is the guitar sound on  .. And justice For All.. Any suggestions greatly appreciated .....

I've had a Nailbomb and it was too honky in the mids for Metallica.  The Miracle Mans were too scooped for me.  Warpigs, way too beefy for Metallica.

I've compared the EMG81s in my Explorer with some Painkillers and they're the closest thing that BKP do to that EMG tone imo.

So, I'd say Painkillers.

I agree with every syllable.

Edit: except the 'too scooped for me'. I loves me a MM. Gives a great black album-alike tone. But its no justice.

PK, roll the mids out.

Rebels Yell or Holy Diver maybe, the and justice for all tone is very thin indeed. I'm not a massive fan of that tone so much, sounds good doubled tracked but I think 1 guitar will sound very fizzy. I really love the album tho, tone is weird for metallica imo.

the guitar sounds on Justice are thin?  :?

Harvestor Of Sorrow is a pretty meaty sounding riff by any standards imo.

Justice is probably my fave 'tallica record if it comes down to it - even like the dry production.

Thanks for the Reply ... I agree with you about the MM's they sound just too scooped for my taste. I'll def check out the Painkillers ... since that what most people are saying here ...

I hear what you're saying about thin  :) .. but  I really like the chunk sound in the Rhythm playing on that album .. The lead tone is def a bit thin though ...
And the dry production IMO is a good thing it allows you to hear the Guitar and Amp better, without them being swamped with reverb etc.
