Hi, I have no idea of how the Brown Sugars sound. I have a Tele with Country Boys and they are traditional Tele tone. I use them for the bluesy side of things ( I don't play a lot of country-the closests I get is an Eagles song or two) and they  perform beautifully but I reget I cannot offer you an opinion upon the merits of one set compared to another. All I can say is that the CB's do the Tele "thang" extremely well.

Hi Tim - have you considered giving Tim a call. I pestered him for ages on what strat pickups would be best for the sound I was looking for - he recommended me some apaches. The result of these calls? A very happy customer  :D

I get the impression that pretty much everyone who has asked Tim for advice has been more than happy with his suggestion.
I think I hate being indecisive.

If you want that that sort of twang, I would also ask what amp you are using.

The couple of country guys I know (sorry everybody) pay more attention to their amps than whats in their teles (strange people)

Also they swear that a decent compressor helps them get there too

Country Boys are classic Tele, perfect for country and stuff.

But also have a look at the Blackguards.

There's a Youtube clip in the Players section. I think they would be perfect for rock n' roll, blues and some country. Lovely twang and a bit of growl.

that seems sensible enough to me... the amp will make a major difference to your tone (especially if you're currently using the "wrong" one for the tone you're after)... :) EDIT: don't get me wrong, once you have the right amp, BKPs or similar high quality pickups will be the icing on the cake. :)
