do covers make  the sound better on humbucker pickups? or is it there just make it look better. discuss.

They smoothen the top end a little. I believe they also provide better shielding.

I've heard other people say that Tim compensates for a cover when winding and so his pickups sound the same with or without a cover.

Tims recent response re: OPEN Coils v Covers with regards a question on Rebel Yell's

Open coils are slightly brighter with more presence whereas covered
humbuckers are warmer in the bass and highs.
PRS Stop tail CU22 Crawler covered  set,  PRS Trem CU22 Abraxas covered set, PRS SC Trem Crawler covered set & (Charval 475 HSS- Holydiver, Irish Tours open set)
