I have been playing with Line 6 FX (not real ones) and the Boss model seems quieter and clearer than the MXR Dynacomp model - Is this true in real life or just an artefact of digital modelling.

What compressors are the best for mild OD single coil stuff?  (I have an old Tokai from the 80s that is about to die, so I need to get a new one)

I really like my Keeley comp, similar to the Dynacomp but very quiet.

The HBE CPR looks like another great choice too!

I've been using a Keeley Compressor for about a year and it's very nice. The word most people use to describe it is 'transparent' which is immediately apparent when you play through one. Very quiet too.

There's a link to some good clips on the Keeley website. I think they cost around £180.

My HBE CPR compressor should be arriving today. I'll be able to report back on it in a couple of days ...

Keeley“s compressor has excellent reviews like everybody said. I also heard GREAT things about Barber“s TONE PRESS.

The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away...

You could have a look at the janglebox as it's supposed to be pretty damned good on single coils.

It's UK stockists are http://www.ricsrus.com/janglebox.htm

Don't let the 12 string bias put you off though.
