My requirements were very similar to yours in terms of the sound I was looking for; rich and harmonic but also capable of plenty distortion if required. I use Cold Sweats for both neck and bridge but I think for the wood in your guitar a Holy Diver might be a better option for the bridge.

+1

in my mahogany Les Paul copy, the Cold Sweat sounded closer to early Dio, Maiden and Priest cause it's got the ceramic thing + the 80's mojo (and almost every hard/metal band used dimarizo super distortion or seymour duncan distortion, as there wasn't a lot of options)
but the Holy Diver is a better all rounder and will make your guitar sound a lot thicker
this difference is very noticeable on the lead tones
I think the cold sweat might be too sharp and bright for alder + maple top +  maple neck + maple fretboard
Riff Raff, Mules, Black Dog, VHII's, Cold Sweat

That's a *very* good point :) Thanks for the input!

(Next, we have to figure out what to put on my maple neck + walnut/alder/mahogany trio guitar).

Well, don't know people here in BKP Forum, but of guys I know/have talked agree that body doesn't change THAT MUCH the tone... would be like not more than 10%, something alike...

So I would think about other pickups with different voices, but nothing much trebly... There is enough with maple, even more if it's 25,5" (for my taste, of course there is people who put screaming trebly in a Maple neck AND body guitar )

Yeah, that's an issue for another day.

Looking forward to ordering the Holy Diver pickups. I'm also tossing a brass sustain block on the tremolo :)

I've been playing the guitar for a week now, and it amazes me. The tone cuts through glass.

The pickups are DiMarzio Evoluitions... I give them an 7.5/10. Sharp, awesome attack and it'll be heard live. One thing I really want is a "fatness" if I palm mute higher strings -- think the "Holy Diver" solo, or the intro to "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love".  I can get kinda close if I set my Pod to the Marshall Variac (but that amp is kinda muddy feeling). With my tweaked JCM 800 patches, I get about a third of the way there -- searing highs, but too thin feeling when palm muted.

Do you think the Holydiver pickups will help me fatten up what I need, compared to the Revolutions? Or should I look at something else from BK..

Note: I'm going to switch from a Pod XT to a Carvin V3. Might as well use a real tube amp :)

I think ANY BKP will achieve what you ask of the palm mutes, tbh. My miracle man is brutal when it comes to palm muting! Having a lot of speakers that can cope well with low end helps, too, though!
