Two BK pickups sets
« on: September 16, 2008, 12:05:02 PM »
Hi everybody,

i was thinking about getting tow BK pickups sets for my guitars,

i own a B.C. Rich Warlock neck-through,  nato eastern mahogany body and maple neck, for this guitar i was looking for a massive sound, sustain, presence but as well as a rich tone.

The other one is a Hagstrom Ultra Swede, basswood body with maple top and maple set in neck, i understand that basswood doesn't seem to be the best material to have an heavy sound, or at least this is what i have been told. With this one i would like to achieve a good heavy sound but most important would be some nice and warm clean tunes.

Would a warpig set for the warlock and a nailbomb set for the hagstrom a good choice ?

and last question, do BK pickups come with necessary hardware (potentiometres, jack pot etc. etc.) or i have to buy it separately ?

thanks a lot !

You need to buy the pots etc separately if you want to change them.  You can re-use your existing pots if you so desire  :)

I think you can get the pots and such from Tim if you want. I dont know if he'll prewire it for you or anything though. You'd have to ask him.

For the sets preliminary guesses would be swap round your current ideas - put the NB in the warlock and the WP in the swede.

Why dont you just  buy one set for one  of your axes.  See what it does well and what it does not . Then based on that have a think on what  you want the 2nd axe to do and get the pickups accordinly.

So, basicly, does anybody knows what are the main differences between nailbombs and warpigs ?

Warpigs are tighter, more compressed, bassier, more highs and quite a bit more power

Naibombs are more open and organic, more mids (especially high mids), crunchier as opposed to grinding, more dynamic and have better cleans (excellent in fact).

Both are extremely versatile for their power, but the NB moreso.
