Single Input Cab

Hey guys.

If I have a cab with a single jack plug input, and I have 2 amps, what are my options?

Is there some kind of external splitter that I can plug into the back of the cab to take 2 amp inputs?  Or should I mod the cab?

i think the Radial Headbone will do this. expensive though.

Mod the cab is my vote - I assume it's a 4x12 with V30s meaning each pair can handle 120w.  Wire each pair to a seperate output jack then you can use two amps into a single cab.

I used to do this with a custom 2x12 that SJB Audio built for me, it had a pair of Classic Lead 80s.  I used a 50w Silver Jubilee head and a Fender Tonemaster head together into that cab - was probably the best tone I've ever had (then I got bored and sold the lot at a massive loss).

It's a 2x12.  What I actually need is just 2 linked input jacks that allow me to have 2 amps plugged in at the same time, because I can't be arsed unplugging them all the time - I won't be using them simultaniously.

Presumbly I can use a Y cable of some sort?

you have to be carefull with the inpedance.. i would either mod the cab to work so the speakers are seperate aslong as they would have the correct impedance after the modification.  or get another 2x12.

I would personally put 2 jacks in.
Is it possible to put a stereo jack in, then use a Y splitter cable for using one side or the other?

My fear with using some kind of splitter cable is that maybe the output signal from the amp could end up in the amp that isn't turned on and cause some damage?

I'm switching between heads at the moment, and I'm moving both the kettle lead and the speaker cable each time, and I'm the laziest man on earth!

Though, maybe you could get the Rat an Orange 1x12 all on its own...
