Effects chain reverb distortion what order??
« on: October 25, 2008, 12:57:38 AM »
Hey guys I am now complete in my set up or soon will be with the arrival of my Boss RV5. I am wondering how I should go about setting up the pedals. Will any order do or no heres the list of my effects going into my Orange TT head-Orange cab

Vox Bulldog Distortion-Boss CE5 Chorus-Digitech Delay(sucks but like two settings don't buy one) my BBE sonic maximizer, and my RV 5 reverb which is coming soon on eBay.

Anyway how would I string these ones along. I heard that the order or the pedals really is important.

The Chorus is used for fattening my tone with the effect level set low so I dont know if that changes anything.
Let me know
could have researched but figured that youd have an answer to me in like 20 min like usual, and it may be useful to someone in the future as well.

HI Mike,
Distortion should go first, then the chorus, then delay then reverb (although reverb then delay would also be fine).
Different people seem to like the Sonic maximizer in different places, so certaonly experiment with that. Although, personally, I would start with it at the end of the chain, or after the chorus at least.

I would agree totally with Hamfist but would suggest the sonic max should be the last pedal. I have tried mine in different parts of the chain(albeit a very short train in my case) and without doubt, to my ears, it was always better in last place. You would be negating its effect otherwise.

Between the two of 'em, they pretty much got it already. The Sonic Maximizer is supposed to be the very last thing in your signal chain before the power amp, so keep it at the end.

Mike, how do you like the Vox Bulldog? Not tried one, but I heard clips that sound cool, looking for cheaper
alternative to Tonebone Plexitube?
I also have a Digitech delay that sucks, fancy an MXR Carbon Copy.
Nothing to add about your chain, other guys seem spot on.

Well dude for me it was the same thing It was either the Plexitube or the Bulldog. I like it it sound nice and saturated. I personally am into that.
Um its got a great sound nice and distorted channel one is great for rhythm, and two more of a solo channel. However for heavier stuff channel two is better. You really have to try the Radial because I never did. I just liked the Bulldog sound, and the clips of it are really quite spot on.  I like saturation and open sounds. Some dudes told me the radial can sound really open and do lots of crazy stuff, but I am into simplicity. One thing that the Radial has going for it is when you hit channel two you can have it set to also activate your delay-reverb without having to jump on 5 pedals at once. Take it easy bro
thanks for saying Mike instead of Mikey
